You’ll face significant water on the 1st hole. It’s a great test, and you won’t face that kind of water again until the 17th and 18th hole. The 1st is a par-5, and the handicap measures 534 yards. When you’re new to the course, it’s a great idea to have the yardage book and to note green diagrams before you tee off. Keep an eye for the streams that run through the fairways. These can cause a lot of problems for golfers who can really drive the ball.

This course is a par 71, and the wonderful thing about the openness is how playable the course is for amateurs. That doesn’t mean the course is easy. You’ll have to master wind velocity and direction at least to do exceptionally well, but amateurs can succeed here with smart course management. The player with the low handicap, on the other hand, will find some great birdie opportunities. Play smart, be patient, and then, take those shots when the good chances present themselves.
